A round table dedicated to environmental education was held at the House of Scientific Collaboration (HSC) of VSU. The event was held online as part of the Russian scientific forum “Ecology and society: balance of interests”.
The conference was moderated by Marina Butakova, Director of the HSC Center. Biologists and Ecologists from Vologda, Novgorod, Voronezh, Obninsk, and St. Petersburg were among the participants of the convention. They gathered online to discuss issues of environmental education in schools and universities.
Natalia Bolotova, Professor at the Department of Biology and Chemistry, Doctor of Biological Sciences, spoke about the system approach in environmental education.
“To achieve the goal of harmonizing human relations with Nature, it is necessary to form a comprehensive system of “environmental education for all”. In this regard, it is necessary to form an ecological mentality in society that will determine human behavior. Its foundation is an ecological worldview and morality“, said Mrs. Bolotova.
Environmental education of children should be considered the main function of the preschool stage. The school serves as the foundation of environmental education, which will determine the “motivational incentives” for adult population.
