Vologda State University hosts an international scientific conference “Socio-economic development of Russia in the second half of the twentieth century: sources, opinions, processes”. The event is held online.
Professor Mikhail Beznin, head of the department of national history opened the meeting. In his speech, he underlined that “the study of the history of Russia in the second half of the twentieth century is the most important trend in historical science of the present day.”
Scholars from Vologda, Saint Petersburg, Arkhangelsk, Yaroslavl, Kirov, Yekaterinburg, the Republic of Karelia, Chelyabinsk, Volgograd, as well as foreign colleagues from the United States of America and the Republic of Belarus take part in the conference.
The participants are discussing the problems of socio-economic development of Russia in the second half of the twentieth century, the transformation of socio-economic structures, the processes of initial accumulation of capital in the Soviet economy, and the impact of the socio-economic structure on people’s life and culture.
As a result of the conference, a collection of scientific papers will be published.
