The students of Vologda State University will support residents of the city during the lockdown.
The young people joined a Unified Volunteer Center to provide assistance to citizens older than 65 years of age. The volunteers deliver food and medicine to pensioners, take out garbage, and help them pay their utility bills. Stories about these students on media portal “Auditoriya” are linked to a hashtag #VolunteersVSU.
Daria Teterina, a second-year student at the Institute of Management, Economics and Law of VSU:
– I have always enjoyed helping other people, and in the current conditions, who but active youths will be able to support the elderly and low-mobility categories of people. They are the ones who are at high risk.
As part of the #MolodezhkiONF team, I have already been to more than 20 homes of people who asked for help through the direct line of the All-Russian National Front (ONF).
At first people took us for shop assistants in grocery stores, but now people recognize us and say: “They are volunteers, they help older people.” They also often ask us for the direct line phone number, and what kind of help we provide.
I believe that a volunteer should be able to listen and hear, and, of course, despite everything, be an optimist. And in my case, it is still necessary to plan the team’s work correctly when traveling, because I am the coordinator of the “ONF Youth Team” in the region.
