Dmitry Krivosheev, Associate Professor at VSU, took part in a press conference dedicated to predictive medicine. The event was held at the Republican Media Center of Yakutia.
The participants discussed the importance of an individual approach to human health at different stages of person’s life and the topical issues of predictive medicine. Predictive medicine uses the information provided by personal genomics (genetic tests) to select the medical procedures needed for a particular person.
Dmitry Krivosheev made a presentation on the genetic test data for personalized medicine.
“Owing to the development and significant reduction in the cost of DNA decoding technology, we can learn about the predisposition of a person to various diseases, the characteristics of their metabolism, and susceptibility to certain drugs. This is extremely important, as it allows us to choose a scheme for treatment of a specific person and not an “average” one. Genetics opens a new era in healthcare – the era of personalized medicine,” said Dmitry Krivosheev.
