The students visited the museum “Submarine B-440” in the town of Vytegra. They had an opportunity to see seven different compartments of a real submarine, commander’s and the crew cabins.

“We had a chance to see in real life what we had only seen in movies. It turns out to be very different.” It was a great experience to visit a U-boat, and to feel as if we were real submariners!” they shared their impressions.

The museum “Submarine B-440” was open in a combat type 641 submarine, which was built in 1969 at the Leningrad shipyard. The submarine was in active service until 2001: it was part of the submarine squadron of the Northern and the Baltic Fleets.  The submarine B-440 has made a good many long ocean trips.
