In order to commemorate the citizens of the Vologda Oblast who fell during the Great Patriotic War, students of Vologda State University implemented a project “Losses of the Vologda Oblast”, the author of which is a VSU student Sergey Belikov.
The highlights of the project were the installation of the “Memorial map” in the Victory Park in Vologda on the eve of the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory. The installation was created by VSU students together with the Administration of the City of Vologda. The idea of developing a map that reflects the number of killed and unaccounted for soldiers from the Vologda Oblast was put forth by the project’s scientific Director, Associate Professor of the Department of Physics at VSU, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Olga Schtrekert.
As part of the project, VSU students also developed a website “This day in life…” victory35.ru where a virtual “Memorial map” was created. On the site you can see the number of killed and unaccounted for soldiers from each district of the Vologda Oblast.
An important page of the project was the creation of the channel “We remember everyone” on Youtube. The channel has collected more than 30 hours of video, where residents of the Vologda Oblast and the city of Vologda, students and teachers of Vologda State University, name the citizens who died during the Great Patriotic War: youtube.com/channel/UC74kdHrPEo5lc1fUR6F5qKA?view_as=subscriber
