Session of the joint dissertation Council D 999.014.03 was held in VSU

The session began with an official event: the Chairman of the Dissertation Council, Doctor of Philology, Professor Guriy Sudakov handed diplomas of the candidate of Sciences to Ilya Alexandrov (Moscow), Svetlana Okulovskaya (Kostroma) and Lyudmila Saburova (Vologda). Congratulating the young candidates of philological Sciences, Guriy Vasilyevich expressed hope to see them again at the defense of their doctoral dissertations.

Then two postgraduate students defended their dissertations for the degree of candidate of philological Sciences:

Arina Medvedeva, a graduate of the Vologda State University, presented the work on “Genre and regional features of the language of ditties of Sheksninsky district of the Vologda Oblast” (scientific supervisor – Doctor of Philology, Professor Lyudmila Yatskevich). The study is based on the analysis of more than three thousand ditties collected by the author and his scientific supervisor. It is proved that the Sheksninsky ditties possess genre and regional features both in construction of the text, and in a choice of language means.

Ekaterina Obukhova, a graduate of Belgorod State National Research University, defended her dissertation “V. V. Nabokov and his critics (1920-1930s): polemic in the writer’s work” (scientific supervisor – Doctor of Philology, Associate Professor Valery Cherkasov). The study developed a new scientific idea that enriches the idea of the genesis and evolution of political dialogue, which was conducted by Vladimir Nabokov with critics of his works of this period.

Chairman of the Dissertation Council, Guriy Sudakov, warmly congratulated the aspiring scientists and wished them a lot of success in their scientific activities.

It should be mentioned that the Dissertation Council D 999.014.03 was established by three universities: Vologda State University, Syktyvkar State University named after Pitirim Sorokin and Cherepovets State University.
