The Students of the Institute of Mathematics, Natural and Computer Sciences learn the basics of pedagogical profession by teaching children at the House of Scientific Collaboration of the Vologda State University. In the classroom, the students use the project method, in-game training, and group work.
Pedagogical practice for a student is a crucial step on the path to the teacher’s profession, an opportunity to try on the role of a teacher, acquire communication skills, and use theoretical knowledge working with children. The pedagogical practice at the HSC is the opportunity to work with modern high-tech equipment in the areas of industrial design, virtual reality, IT, robotics, and others” – Alina Shalaevskaya, a fourth-year student, shares her impressions.
Dina Trufanova, a student of the Institute of Mathematics, Natural and Computer Sciences of the Vologda State University, told us about her first experience as a teacher of robotics: “The children were happy to learn, it was not enough to assemble a robot in the classroom, they had to program it correctly. One of the tasks was to make the robot move along a given trajectory. First, it was necessary to install an ultrasonic sensor on the platform and program the robot so that it stopped at the distance of 20 centimeters from the obstacle, drove back and moved around the obstacle. Schoolchildren successfully completed the task. The kids also were very creative in designing the robot’s appearance. “
