Professor of the Department of mathematics of VSU Vladimir Testov was awarded the honorary title of doctor of pedagogical Sciences by the Russian professorial Assembly.

Vladimir Testov is a well-known scientist, working on issues of mathematical education, strategies of teaching mathematics at school and University, the use of IT technologies in teaching mathematics and development of mathematical picture of the world, and intellectual and creative giftedness, application of synergetic approach in education. He is the author of over 360 scientific articles, 9 monographs, 9 educational and methodical manuals, including those that have received the approval of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation. His monograph “The strategy of teaching mathematics” is the first major work on learning strategies. His articles are published in the academic journals “Pedagogy”, “Higher education”, “Primary school”. Professor Testov has the highest Hirsch citation index in VSU. He annually delivers reports on the problems of mathematical education in schools and universities at all-Russian and international scientific conferences and seminars in Russia and abroad (Armenia, Belarus, Germany, France, Italy, Czech Republic, Finland, Israel).

For his great personal contribution to the training of qualified teachers, Vladimir Afanasievich was awarded diplomas of the Ministry of Education of the USSR (1987), The Department of Education of the Vologda Oblast (2007), the badge “Honorary worker of higher professional education of the Russian Federation” (2005), a letter of appreciation from the Governor of the Vologda Oblast (2016). He was awarded the title of “Honorary Professor of the Vologda State University” (2017).
