VSU Associate Professor takes part in a research project

Dmitry Krivosheev, Associate Professor at the Department of Biology and Chemistry, and a team of schoolchildren from various regions of Russia are implementing a research project on genetics “Roses for Subtropics”. The work is carried out as part of the “Big Challenges” program. The program aims at developing creative abilities of young people who are interested in scientific and creative activities.

“The project “Roses for Subtropics” is carried out in collaboration with Genotek Company and the Nikitsky Botanical Garden. “We are using DNA analysis to find out the genetic relationships between different varieties of roses. The program will allow the schoolchildren to master methods of molecular genetic research, and also will make it possible to create new strains of roses.” – said Dmitry Krivosheev.
