The word “help” has been our motto for a long time. Almost all students of the Institute of Economics, Management and Law are involved in volunteer projects such as volunteering during scientific forums, eco-volunteering, charity projects, volunteering during the pandemic, and much more.
The University Games among the educational organizations of higher education of the Vologda Oblast ended with a basketball tournament. The VSU men’s and women’s teams did not lose a single game, and achieved a resounding victory over rival teams.

VSU Associate Professor Dmitry Krivosheev spoke about the methods of working with DNA on the course “Introduction to NGS technologies. DNA data sequencing”.
The International conference of student scientific papers was held at the St. Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory.
Maria Budilova’s scientific research “The wedding tradition of the Chuchkovsky rural settlement” was presented in the category “Musical folklore in the modern world”. The research paper was awarded a diploma of the II degree. Maria is a senior year student at the Institute of Culture and Tourism.
The research utilizes the materials of folklore expeditions of the VSU Scientific and Educational Center of Traditional Folk Culture.
Cloudy weather did not prevent our team from winning. University College took second place.

The Department of Linguistics and Intercultural Communication along with the Department of the German and French Languages, hosted a poetry reading contest “German Classics”. 24 students took part in the competition.
All participants showed their ability to select and interpret poetic works. The contestants recited poems by Johann Wolfgang Goethe, Heinrich Heine, Friedrich Schiller, Rainer Maria Rilke, Georg Geim and other illustrious German and Austrian poets.
The round table “Preservation of national and ethno-cultural identity in the territory of the Vologda Oblast” was organized by the Center for Folk Culture, the regional branch of the Russian Folklore Union and the Civic Chamber of the Vologda Oblast.

The VIII All-Russian Student Olympiad on the history of Russian entrepreneurship was held in Moscow. Vologda State University was represented by Mikhail Pokutny, a sophomore at the Institute of Management, Economics and Law, winner of the regional stage of the Olympiad.

The VSU social work freshmen get hand-on experience as part of “Volunteering” course helping orphaned children.
At the Vologda Center for children, VSU volunteers give creative lessons, and help the children to do their homework. The volunteer students also gave a masterclass on housekeeping.
During the career guidance class, the students told the children about popular professions.
Practical classes on volunteering are coming to an end, but cooperation with the Center for children will be continued.
