“Playrix” founded by the Bukhman brothers takes the third place in the world ranking of mobile game publishers in terms of annual revenue. The company became well known after the release of two simple games popular mainly abroad.
The Russian-based mobile app developer “Playrix” is among the top three publishers with the highest annual revenues in 2020. According to the rating of the analytical company “App Annie” “Playrix” move up from the seventh place to the third in a year, displacing the American Activision Blizzard from its place. The first and second places in the «App Annie» rating have been occupied by China’s “Tencent” and “NetEase” respectively for the last four years.
“App Annie” creates its rating based on statistics on developers’ revenue from downloads and purchases of their apps in App Store and Google Play. This does not take into account the revenue from in-app advertising and subscriptions that are not distributed through app stores. It is known that the revenue from advertising is minute — “Playrix”, for example, in 2019 earned only 3% of total revenue from it.
“Playrix” moved up in the global developer rankings by four positions in a year owing to its casual games “Gardenscapes” and “Fishdom”, which do not require special skills from the player and are designed for a wide audience.
