Vologodians winners of the competition of local historians

The competition, announced by the Russian historical society and the “History of Motherland” fund on March 1, 2020, was aimed at supporting local historians who contribute to the education of young people, and popularization of the local history among youths.

The Vologda branch of the Russian historical society, headed by the rector of Vologda State University Vyacheslav Priyatelev, was established in 2019, and is actively involved the competition. A VSU professor, Vasiliy Sablin, is the chairman of the expert Council.

The expert Council received 16 applications from Vologda, Krasavino, Totma, Cherepovets, Vashkinsky, Kaduysky, Nyuksensky, Tarnogsky, Cherepovets and Sheksninsky Districts of the Vologda Oblast.

The winners of the contest in the Vologda Oblast were Olga Kormashova, a teacher of the Russian language and Literature from Tarnoga secondary school, Marina Bazanova, a teacher of supplementary education, Director of the literary Museum “Palace of children and youth creativity named after A. A. Alekseeva” (Cherepovets), and Natalia Koreneva, Deputy Director of the “Museum Association in Totma”.

All winners will be invited to Moscow to participate in the second stage of the competition, which is planned to be held in the format of the All-Russian festival “Local history – history of Motherland”. As part of the festival, the participants’ papers will be presented to the jury, and the winners nominated.
