Vladimir Slabodyanik, a traveler, and a teacher of the Regional Center for Supplementary Education of Children, met up with the VSU Geography students at the Department of Geography and Environmental management of VSU.

At the meetup with the students, the traveler shared his experience in organizing ski expeditions to the Polar Urals, the Yamal Peninsula and the Franz Josef Land archipelago. The students were very excited to hear about difficulties of skiing on drifting ice, peculiarities of cooking and setting up a camp in Arctic conditions.

The future Geographers were listening very attentively to the stories about encounters with polar bears and walruses. The narrative was accompanied by photos, maps and music, which allowed the audience to fully immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the wintry, severe and yet so attractive Arctic.
