The Vth Spiritual and Educational Youth Forum “We are the heirs of the Victory” was held in the Spaso-Prilutsky Dmitriev monastery.
The event was organized by the Vologda city Administration and the Youth Center “GOR.COM 35″, Department for Work with Youth of the Vologda Diocese, Vologda State University and spiritual and Educational Center “Severnaya Fivaida” (The Northern Thebaid).
The event was attended by schoolchildren and students, representatives of government authorities, the armed forces, public organizations and the clergy.
The Forum is dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. It will last for several months this year in the form of a series of spiritual and educational events. Among them – youth discussions, creative competitions of national culture, educational events, music programs and family events.
The Rector of the Vologda State University, Vyacheslav Priyatelev, spoke about the importance of preserving the memory of the Great Victory for future generations: “There are not so many countries on the political map of the world that could be proud of their history and use it as a people-uniting factor. How to take the future from the people? To do this, they must be deprived of its historical memory…to avoid this we must remember the pages of the past of our country and its heroes.”
This year, the Forum was organized on four platforms: “Vologda Diocese during the great Patriotic War”, “the Great Victory: heritage and heirs”, “Dad, tell me about the war…”, “Military service in the modern Russian army: cons and pros of alternative service”.
