The meeting in the format of informal dialogue was held last Saturday, bringing together more than two hundred students from educational institutions and universities of the Vologda oblast.

Oleg Kuvshinnikov, Governor of the Vologda oblast, congratulated the students on the holiday, symbolizing youth and knowledge: “in the Vologda oblast, there are 25 thousand students who go to 41 educational institutions.  You are an army for building the future of our region. I see you as a talent pool that can make the Vologda oblast one of the most prosperous regions in Russia. I wish you to find your way in life, education and your future professional career.”

At the beginning of the “Dialogue” the Governor challenged the audience: “Try to ask me a question so that I can’t answer it. Whoever does this, will receive a prize from me! ”

The questions that the young people asked the head of the region concerned a wide variety of areas of life: from his favorite book, historical figures whom he respects and, on the other hand, doesn’t like, to new planned measures to support students, and how to repair roads and develop social facilities.

Ksenia, a VSU student, asked Oleg Kuvshinnikov for advice on what book to read or what movie to watch in her free time.

“I must confess that I almost have no time to watch movies and read fiction. I have to read a lot, but mostly I read business reports and regulatory acts. One of my habits, when I was a kid, was an excessive interest in fiction. I could read all night long under a blanket with a flashlight. I have a dream, in the future, when my professional career comes to an end, I will again pick up a book of fiction”, Oleg Aleksandrovich replied.

Associate Professor of the Department of Chemistry of VSU, a young scientist Dmitry Krivosheev asked the head of the region when it is planned to create a Scientific and Educational Center for Biotechnology.

“The Center will be created this year. I set a task to organize the work of this center with the help of our partners. The Research and Education Center will play an important role in creating new competitive technologies in the region”, the Governor said.

A lively discussion of the aforementioned topics took place, during which the “Mentimeter” service was used. The following questions appeared on the screen: “Do you have a favorite music band?”, “Vologda State University or Cherepovets State University?”, “What is happiness for you?”, and “What is your favorite dish?” and many others.

During the meeting, head of the regional program “Studaktiv” Ekaterina Latkina, on behalf of all students, gave Oleg Alexandrovich a present on the eve of his anniversary birthday.

The meeting ended with a joint selfie of the Governor and the students.
