The fifth scientific event in the Vologda Oblast was opened by the Deputy Governor, Head of the Department of Internal Policy of the Region Yevgeny Bogomazov: “Civil society and interethnic relations are not separate from each other. Dialogue is a condition for the development of any society. The Civic Chamber of the Vologda Oblast is one of the successful platforms for communication”.
During the ceremonial part of the conference, Yevgeny Artemovich thanked the staff of the Sub-department of Theory, History of Culture and Ethnology of the Institute of Culture and Tourism of VSU for their help in organizing the conference, handing Irina Spasenkova, the supervisor of the conference, a letter of thanks.
The work of the conference was divided into 3 sections:
• Historical aspects of interethnic and interfaith relations in Russia;
• Interethnic dialogue among youth;
• Interethnic conflicts and manifestations of extremism: legal support for prevention and counteraction in modern Russia.
Ethnologists and culture scientists of the Vologda State University also presented their reports. Irina Spasenkova, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Head of the Sub-department of Theory, History of Culture and Ethnology of the Institute of Culture and Tourism of the Vologda State University, spoke about the ethnocultural foundations of interethnic interaction. Candidate of Philosophy, Associate Professor of the Sub-department of Philosophy of the Institute of Culture and Tourism of the VSU, Irina Sharypova presented a report on foreign and domestic research of ethno-religious relations.
Candidate of historical Sciences, Associate professor of the theory, history of culture and ethnology Institute of Culture and Tourism of the Vologda State University Alexander Matveev spoke about the ethnic and national ideas of the Russian peasants in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
