Just think about it, you come to a new city or country to study. How to become familiar with a new situation if you are alone among strangers? To address this issue, VSU students have devised a project which they call “Erasing the Borders”.
The project is aimed at helping non-resident students of Vologda State University to socialize. It prevents the negative psychological consequences, the newcomers do not feel lost and abandoned any longer.
“First off, in order to help such people, we take them on a tour around the city of Vologda and show them our major tourist attractions. It helps them better navigate themselves in the city. The second thing we do is the so-called “Evening of Friendship”. This is an event where non-residents can make new friends. We also created a group on social media “VKontakte”, where we publish news and life hacks that can help make the life of non-resident students a little more comfortable.” – said Polina Kolodeznaya, one the project starters.
