The 1st – 4th year students of the Institute of mathematics, natural and computer Sciences of VSU took part in the conference. They presented the results of research in geographical, biological and environmental areas. Biology students spoke about their research of flora and vegetation in the vicinity of the village Topornya in Kirillovsky district and the research of bottom communities of Lake Ladoga, rare plants of the protected area “Sokolsky Bor”.
Geography students made reports on paleontological finds in Vytegorsky and Kirillovsky districts and results of soil profiling in the territory of “Park Mira” in Vologda.
A competition for the best report was held during the conference. The competent jury evaluated the papers of students. The evaluation criteria were as follows: relevance, scientific novelty, practical value, independence of judgments and conclusions, etc.
The results of the competition:
1st place – “Paleontological heritage of the Paleozoic in Vytegorsky and Kirillovsky districts of the Vologda Oblast”, author-Vasily Kirikov;
2nd place – “Research of plant biodiversity in the vicinity of the village Topornya Kirillovsky district of the Vologda Oblast”, authors – Daniil Groshev and Evgenia Fokina.
3rd place – “Results of the soil profiling in the “Park Mira”, author – Anna Golubeva and “Research of flora and vegetation in the national Park “Russian North”, author – Veronika Zyablitskaya.
