Scientific exhibition “Archimedes-2022” is a site for presenting new inventions and technologies to the public. The exhibition is held to increase the activity of inventors and manufacturers, and promote their innovations to the market.
Our university was represented by three innovations:
1) Soil-ground (Compound organic soil)
The invention relates to the field of environmental technologies. A new composition of soil-ground which consists of peat, sand, water piping sediment and cotton dust with the ratio of components: water piping sediment mixed with cotton dust (20-30%), sand (30-40%), peat (the rest).
The goal is to produce easy-to-manufacture and economical fertile soil using available raw materials such as cotton processing waste in the form of cotton dust, and wastes of the water purification process.
Advantages:
– use of available raw materials and wastes;
– easy and quick preparation;
– no complex equipment required;
– high anti-erosion properties;
– long-term source of organic nutrients, as it is able to maintain structure and moisture for a long time.
Spheres of application:
– open and closed grounds;
– cultivation of plants and lawn landscaping, sports fields and road slopes;
– creation and restoration of fertile soil layers for grass lawns on grounds unfavorable for plant growth.

2) Modern methods of assessment and safety control of building structures
The inventions relate to the field of construction, and aim at the development of methods for assessing and monitoring the safety of building structures. The inventions increase the reliability of assessment of the load-bearing capacity of building structures. The method effectively combines Mathematics and Mechanics theories, and contributes to the development of systems for monitoring the building structures safety for accident prevention.
Advantages:
– increased reliability of the assessment of the load-bearing capacity of structural elements by means of non-destructive experimental studies on real objects;
– takes into account criteria of critical conditions for building structures when assessing their load-bearing capacity;
– uses statistical and data analysis theories to obtain results with a given security reliability level.
Spheres of application:
– inspection of buildings and structures;
– monitoring of the technical condition of buildings and structures;
– stochastic analysis of the reliability of building structures.
Authors – Associate Professor at the Department of Industrial and Civil Engineering Sergey Solovyov, scientist Vladimir Utkin, lecturer at the Department of Industrial and Civil Engineering Anastasia Solovyova, post-graduate student at VSU Leonid Sushev.
3) Robotic cart
The invention belongs to the field of artificial intelligence. The program is designed to move a robotic cart according to GPS and compass coordinates. The program controls movements of the cart according to the specified values of GPS points on the map, and determines the direction of movement to the nearest specified point. Based on the sensor readings, when the cart approaches an object it slows down and selects a rout to bypass the obstacle using a predefined database of fuzzy condition-action rules of behavior. The robotic cart can be controlled from a smartphone or tablet computer, where each sensor has its own window.
Advantages:
– utilizes elements of artificial intelligence based on fuzzy condition-action rules (linguistic variables)
– increased working time and efficiency as the operator can simultaneously control several carts.
Spheres of application:
– Agriculture: soil excavation, field cultivation;
– Road infrastructure maintenance: roadside grass mowing;
– Housing and communal services.
