Dear students, alumni, professors and employees of VSU! I would like to cordially congratulate you on the Day of Russian Students also known as Tatiana’s Day, the holiday of students of all generations!
This unique holiday has its roots in the distant past, when on January 25, 1755, on St. Tatiana’s Memorial Day, Empress Elizabeth signed a decree on foundation of Moscow University. Saint Tatiana has been considered the patroness of Russian students since that time.
The years of study at university are the most exciting time in the life of any student; it is the time of bright ideas, inexhaustible energy, romance, hopes and great expectations. This experience builds up the foundations of your future career, your character and positive outlook on life. During this time you acquire the most valuable capital – your knowledge. In your student years you make best friends, and experience the deepest affections.
This year Vologda State University is celebrating 110th anniversary. The foundation of the Vologda Teachers’ Institute marked the beginning of pedagogical education in Vologda Oblast. We have more than a century of higher education history behind us, nonetheless the university is open to new educational technologies and innovations.
Dear students, the knowledge and skills that you acquire at Vologda State University will open the doors to a new great future for you, and build up a reliable foundation for your professional success.
Dear VSU professors and employees, today is your holiday too! Thank you for your work, for your contribution to the education of the younger generations, for your energy and devotion to teaching.
I wish you a lot of success in your studies and work! Let your life be full of exciting events, vivid impressions and new accomplishments!
Sincerely,
Rector V.V. Priyatelev
