The events, dedicated to Sergei Orlov’s anniversary, are to be held in the town of Belozersk. Sergei Orlov (1921-1977) was a poet, a veteran of WW II, a laureate of the State Prize named after M. Gorky.
Sergei Orlov’s poetry is associated, first of all, with the Great Patriotic War: many of his poems were written during short lulls in the fighting. They frankly and honestly tell us of war ordeals and of people fighting for peace.
But Sergei Orlov wrote poems not only about the Great Patriotic War – we can find gentle and lyrical poems about love, philosophical reflections, and historical poems among his poetic works. He also dedicated a great many of his poems to his native land – Belozerye.
The anniversary events will be held on August 21 and 22.
