Vologda State University joined the project of the University Consortium of Big Data Researchers https://opendata.university and participates in the research on the influence of Internet activity on students’ educational achievements.
The project is intended to analyze the structural characteristics of students’ Internet activity (socio-demographic profile, friendship bonds, and screen time), their personal interests as well as the impact of Internet activity on formal and non-formal educational achievements.
The project manager, Head of Sociology Department at Tomsk State University, Vitaly Kashpur, says that they plan to create a comprehensive model for assessing the impact of Internet activity on the student’s educational achievements based on formal and informal learning data and digital traces in social networks.
The research will make it possible to develop advanced teaching technologies. As part of the project, new regulations and formats for exchange of student data will be developed.
