VSU professor at the Department of Geography and Environmental Management, Chairman of the Vologda branch of the Russian geographical society Nadezhda Maksutova is the first person in Vologda to receive this honorary title.
Professor Maksutova was awarded the title “Honored Geographer of the Russian Federation” on February 12, 2021 by the Decree of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin.
This honorary title is awarded to highly professional specialists in the field of Geography for personal achievements such as: geographical discoveries, scientific expeditions and research, publication of geographical catalogues, atlases, and scientific journals, reference books, popularization of geographical science and achievements in Geography teaching.
