Dmitry Krivosheev, Associate Professor at VSU, has made it through to the semi-finals of the “League of Lecturers”.
Dmitry is among 800 speakers admitted to the next stage of the competition organized by the Russian Society “Znanie” (Knowledge).
In the semi-finals, Dmitry Krivosheev is to deliver online lecture which will be broadcast live on the “Znanie” website. The exact date of the lecture has not been set yet. But it is already known that according to the requirements, the participants will have to choose a new topic of the lecture.
Dmitry, can you share your personal secrets of a successful speech?
Everyone knows “my secrets”. You need to choose a topic your audience is interested in. Biology is hands down one of the most interesting topics. You can hook the audience by talking about their fears, or giving them a life hack, or just by satisfying their curiosity. It is very important to strike a balance between serious science and entertainment. You need to know exactly what idea you want to convey to the audience.
What are your chances to win the competition?
I take my participation in the competition without any worries. I am more interested in the process itself, and I enjoy it very much.
