Each job, whatever it may be, is associated with many myths. The VSU Voluntary Student Rescue Squad is no exception. What is true and what is false? We asked Daniil Osipov, the leader of the team, to tell us.
Myth 1. VSU first responders participate in real life rescue operations.
The volunteers really participate in real rescue operations on a par with professionals. Students are trained and certified to be rescuers. Our volunteers helped people in flooded areas and participated in many other rescue operations.
Myth 2. Only physically strong people are accepted into the rescue squad.
No, any student can volunteer. Apart from the rescue work, they can be helpful doing educational or journalistic work – everyone can find something they are good at.
Myth 3. In order to be accepted, one has to pass an exam.
Yes, our volunteers have to pass a very difficult exam. All volunteers are certified for the rescuer’s job. They receive a training course which they take very seriously, so they never have any difficulties with their certification exam.
